Paddle the Rouge connects youth to nature and builds the next generation of stewards for Canada’s wilderness.
With over 20% of Canada living within an hour of the Rouge Valley, this remarkable natural area and its wildlife are a treasure. Paddle the Rouge welcomes and encourages newcomers to Canada, marginalized youth, families and adventurers of all ages to explore and learn all they can about the proposed Rouge National Urban Park.
Rouge Park is home to over 1700 species of birds, fish, mammals, insects, reptiles, amphibians, and plants, including 23 species at risk. The Rouge Valley also contains one of Ontario’s best remaining examples of Carolinian Forest and the last intact watershed in the area.
As we look ahead to the next 150 years in Canada, we will bring together youth from a diversity of backgrounds and their families for a truly Canadian experience: canoeing or kayaking right in our own urban backyard.
